Snow

How much did it snow since the beginning of the year?

Climatological data of the Aosta Valley

The picture shows the snow height measured since the beginning of the year (in light blue) compared with the average year (in grey) for four stations: Courmayeur (Ferrachet, 2290 m a.s.l.) , Gressoney-Saint Jean (Weissmatten, 2038 m), Pré-Saint Didier (Plan Praz, 2044 m) and Saint Rhémy en Bosses (Crévacol, 2018 m ).

Historical comparison

Historical series of the mean annual snow height of our stations

This graph shows the mean snow height in four stations: Courmayeur (Ferrachet, 2290 m a.s.l.) , Gressoney-Saint Jean (Weissmatten, 2038 m), Pré-Saint Didier (Plan Praz, 2044 m) and Saint Rhémy en Bosses (Crévacol, 2018 m).

The last available data is highlighted in a different colour.

SWE: how much water is stored in the snow?

Monitoring by Arpa Valle d'Aosta

Arpa Valle d'Aosta, in a partnership with the Centro funzionale, provides the estimation of the Snow Water Equivalent (SWE).
Those data are useful to monitor the climate change and can be used as an input for the models that simulate the river discharge.
